squares and things
I have a skein of Red Heart Baby Clouds. It's very pale blue and so soft. However, it's only one skein and it's not enough to do much with. I started a shrug and frogged it. I started a shawl and frogged it. I tried a scarf and hated it so I'm going to frog it. There's something to be said about finishing a skein of yarn down to a 5 inch tail and deciding to pull the whole thing apart. I, however, will not share that word with you all. I'm sure you get the idea.
Here's the progress on my 63 squares. I just finished number four and started working on my fifth.

As you can see, on the blue one (Number 4, the treble crochet) I've got gaps. I'm not pleased with this but I'm hoping that when I block it I can fix them. I hate finishing sides because I either always get gaps or my spacing is off and I have to re-do it over and over. I normally don't block my work either, but for this project I will.
When my hubbie came home today he was carrying a skein of red yarn. I thought that was incredibly peculiar. He didn't have a dime with him and to top it off, he's never brought me yarn before. What the hell? lol
Apparantly someone had thrown it away at Sonic. An almost full 8 oz. skein of yarn! There's dried ice cream in a few small areas and I guess they didn't want to bother so they tossed it. One of the managers found it and asked Paul if I'd want it. It was laying on the top of a bag, so it's not like it was disgusting or anything, and I can clean it up.
Forgive my trashiness, but yarn is yarn. Unless it's covered in something unrecognizable or something horrifically recognizable, I don't care. I've got a huge spool of yellow baby yarn that has a big dirty spot on one side and I still use it. It comes out in the wash just fine, so why not? But, before I go off on a snob tangent, I'll stop there.
I was thinking maybe I'll make a few hats out of the red yarn and donate them to the women's shelter or somewhere else they might be appreciated. I dunno yet.
That's another thing; I would really like to get in to crocheting for charity. The only things that are really holding me back are
1. Lack of money. You need money to buy yarn and that's something that we're having a shortage of right now.
2. I'd have to find a charity that I'd actually want to donate my time and effort to locally. I know there's shelters around here, but I'd really like to visit and get to know the people that run it before I act. Hammie knows a few people so I may talk to her before I think much more about it.
But anyways. I hope I have more interesting stuff to talk about in my next update. I am currently working on this cute little baby sweater. I made the cutest socks and figured I'd just go ahead and make a whole outfit. LIke I said, I have a ton of thin yellow yarn...I may as well use it for something.
