Drop the yarn and put your hands up!
The adventures of a maniacal crafter

itsy bitsy teeny weeny khaki colored skimpy bikini!

2005-03-15
I know I know! I haven't made an entry in ages!

I have, however, really been busy crocheting. I've made a halter top and a skirt for Hammie and I just finished the coolest bikini for her!

Here's a close-up of the bra:

I don't have pictures of the halter top and skirt since my camera was acting up and I forgot to take pics before I gave them to her, but she said she'd get pictures of her wearing them, so I'll try to get some up eventually.

The Spring 2005 issue of Joann had the bikini in it and I made it in a cotton/ramie blend. The picture doesn't do it justice...it's a kind of khaki-ish color and very soft. It's a little skimpy, but I'm really hoping it'll be just right.

In the same issue of Joann, there's a bolero style jacket that I'm planning on making. I picked up black Bernat Soft and Chunky for it, and I think it'll look great with Hammie's anniversary dress. Just a nice cover-up in case it gets a little brisk. If not, it'll look adorable with jeans and a shell. Let's face it, the stuff I'm making for her is just as much for me because I'm really enjoying crocheting it. I hate to admit it, but I'd love to do some stuff for myself...but I get too impatient. Being a larger gal sucks in that respect. Crocheted items cost more to make because there's more yarn involved, and good luck finding a pattern that's fetching as well as the right size. Meh, as my cat Gutter would say.

That's about all for now, but since I've got my camera in working order again, I'll try to post more often, with pictures!
