Jack the cat and a ripple along
I'm about halfway through the main body of my dear Isis' shawl. It's a super easy pattern, but it's repetitive and slow going. I'm using a free pattern leaflet from Caron. (Psst...go to your local Wal-mart, I'm sure you'll find a copy.)
I've also been working on this gorgeous doily for my mothers birthday/mothers day present. I'm on row 11 of 34 rounds and it too, is slow going. I definitely adore the look of thread crochet, but I wonder just how much patience I have for it. After working on the doily for a bit, I pick up a project using worsted weight yarn and I can appreciate Red Heart so much more. You get a slide on your hook with acrylic that you just don't get with cotton thread.
I have completed one project this week. Wee Woolies over at Crochetville posted her original pattern for Jack the Cat last Thursday and I was working on him shortly after. I finished him late into the evening and here he is!

Horrible picture, I know, but my camera is getting worse and worse. The silver looking blob is a quarter, for sizing reference. By the time I was finished with Jack, I was ready to rip my hair out, but I really adore the way he turned out! He's so adorable! I plan on making several of him and giving him clothes for holidays.
Although I promised myself I wouldn't start another "along" until I was finished with the 63 squares crochet along, I have. I was looking at all of my leftovers from random projects and decided the best way to use them was with a rippleghan! I figured "Hey Christine! If you're going to be doing a ripple afghan anyway, you may as well join the along. So here's my cute lil button
and I'll try to post my progress as I can.
I chose this pattern because I love how it's more wavy than pointy and it's super easy! I think it's the perfect project for scraps.
