Head Case
Paul's birthday was on Tuesday, so I thought that I'd make him something to go along with the gifts I'd bought him. I had originally decided on a Godsmack throw. I had found a 150 pixel by 150 pixel image of the Godsmack sun, and was going to crochet it graph style into a throw. It took me so long to get the main part of it done, that I didn't have time to do the sun. Instead, I found this cool pattern for Interlocking rings and made a circle in the center. Here's how it turned out:

The picture is dark, but the rings are black and dark orange on a black background. Turned out very cute. It's getting to warm for it here, but I figured he could use it at night while watching tv, or he could use it at the park when he started fighting in the SCA again.
I'm learning more and more about knitting every day! I picked up Stitch & Bitch, the knitters handbook at Hastings last week and have been itching to start the projects in it!
I started off small, and made this

It's a knit head kerchief, starting at the very point and working your way up. It was a nice starter project because it's all increases and it was good practice. This is actually the second one I made, since I gave Hammie the first one I did.
I cheated a bit on this one, and I think I like it more. In the instructions, it says that after you bind off, you're supposed to make two knit cords and attach them to either side for the ties. I actually crocheted mine on and did a simple single crochet across the top of the kerchief to give it a more finished look. It's not completely cheating though, since I did do it the way the instructions suggested the first time.
*drum roll*
I also made my first knit hat! It was a cheater, simple hat, since you don't work in with dpns or a circular needle. You work it on straight needles and then sew a seam. Still, I've never done so many color changes before, and it was HARD!
It looks great though:

One more head cover...
Tiggzie from Crochetville designed a head kerchief and last week I volunteered to be a pattern tester when she wrote the pattern out. She posted it yesterday, so I whipped it up super fast. Like 20 minutes fast:

I originally bought the cotton I used to knit a dishcloth with, since it was lime green, light blue, and white...I thought it'd be summery. Instead, I crocheted this with it and I think it's cuuuute!
I'm looking in to changing my diary template again. I know I keep changing it around, but I'm just not happy with it. I want a simple design that's not too simple. I like this one, but it's got a big honkin' picture with it and I think it junks things up when I post a bunch of craft pictures.
I'll be on the lookout for something fresh in the next couple of days.
