The adventures of a maniacal crafter

Ssssssslytherin

2005-06-28
My first big knitting project is finally finished!

I made this Slytherin scarf for Paul. No real reason...just because. I was all amped about him wearing it to the book release party on July 15, and then I realized...it's July 15th. The middle of summer. In Arizona. D'oh! No worries though, it'll come in handy during the winter.

I also decided to make a new purse. I love my crocheted one, but I wanted something different. I came up with this last week while snuggling with my 80 pound chow/black lab Shaggy during a thunderstorm.

I liked it so much that I made a matching wallet.

It is small...a mere 9 inches by 5 inches. But that's how I wanted it. I figured if I made a small enough purse, it would force me in to taking only the bare essentials when I went out. A girl gets tired of lugging her kitchen sink around sometimes.

I used my recycling skills and made it out of the legs of Paul's old jeans that he had me make in to shorts for him. I used one of his old Sonic shirts for the lining, but I'm going to have to do something about the smell...I didn't realize it still smelled like nasty grease! Ick.

I've got other projects in the works, including a Gryffindor scarf, a Prisoner of Azkaban (Ravenclaw) scarf, and I've got a bazillion other projects running through my mind. Oh, I did start a new sock a few days ago, on straight needles. Check it out. I thought it would be a nice pattern to try until I get more used to dpns. To be honest, they kind of scare me. It's like wrestling with a spider.
